    An: You should find out some things about the person your shopping for. Things like her/his birth month or favorite color, for example if your shopping for your friend who was born on August you could consider getting her/him a Peridot gemstone which is Augusts' birthstone or if your friends favorite color is red you could go with a Ruby

    Choosing a color is a personal matter and it depends on your personal taste. But colors do symbolize certain emotions,

    4. Are all your gems natural?

    Unless clearly specified, the gemstones and diamonds you see in our site are 100% natural untreated and uncolored gems and diamonds.    We do however sell heated gemstones which are natural gemstones that are professionally heated to increase their natural color; these gems are clearly specified at the site as heated gems, for example our heated yellow sapphire. We also sell created gemstones such as ruby and emerald, and those are clearly specified as created ruby and emerald.




    5. What is a cabochon?
    A cabochon is a gemstone shaped and polished as opposed to faceted, usually resulting in a convex top and flat bottom form.  


    6. What is the difference between a sapphire and a ruby?

    Sapphire and Ruby are cousins, both from the corundum family. The real difference between them is the color; while sapphires exist in a large verity of colors (except red) rubies are only red. Basically if it's red it's a ruby and if it's not red it's a sapphire, Also rubies a rarer and harder to find especially big rubies.




    7. Why are emeralds often treated with oil?
    Discovered many years ago, oil treatments in emeralds reduce the visibility of their fissures, increase their luster and clarity. The oils used in these treatments are natural oils and these treatments are very popular, common and accepted by gemologists and jewelers worldwide. When buying emeralds you should be aware that the emerald you are buying has probably (99%) been treated with oil..



    8. Is it true that all natural emeralds have inclusions?

    Most emeralds do have inclusions. Emeralds are from the beryl family they are known for their many inclusions and fissures. These inclusions happen during the millions of years that take an emerald to naturally evolve. The emerald stone is so recognized for its inclusions that many people won't even consider buying one unless it's included doubting its authenticity.




    9. What is a created gemstone?

    A created gemstone is cut from a lab grown crystal. This crystal possesses the same physical properties as a natural crystal but is grown in laboratories in order to speed up its growing process. These crystals and gemstones usually have much less inclusions and better color than commonly found gemstones.




    10. What is the most expensive gemstone (not including diamonds) in the world?

    The most expensive gemstone is the Ruby.                                                      Made from Corundum, the second hardest substance on the mohs scale, with a rating of 9. Rubies are red but come in a verity of red shades: pinkish red, orangish red or purplish red. The most precious and desirable rubies are red with a hint of purple hue, these Rubies are so called "pigeon's blood" and are mostly found in Burma. Large Rubies are rarer then large diamonds and it is their rarity which makes them expensive.

    23. Do you provide certificates for your gems?

    Diamond Certificates:

    ·         When purchasing a Diamonds larger than 0.3 cts. A certificate by a world known laboratory will be delivered to you free of charge.

    ·         When purchasing a Diamond smaller than 0.3 cts. A certificate will not be delivered with the diamond. If you wish for a certificate one will be issued for you by a world known gemological laboratory of our choice, this service will be paid by the costumer, it costs 30$ and is non refundable.

    Gemstone Certificates:

    When purchasing a gemstone you may ask for a certificate. Your stone will be sent to a world known gemological laboratory of our choice and its authenticity will be certified.

    Please note that the laboratory studies take time and your delivery will be delayed from 5-10 working days.                                                                

    ·         Single and large precious gemstones which are valued over 1,500$ will be delivered with an authenticity certificate free of charge.

    ·         When purchasing a gemstone valued less then 1,500$ a Certificate will not be included. If you wish for a certificate one will be issued for you by a world known gemological laboratory of our choice. This service will be paid by the costumer, it costs 50$ and is non refundable.




    24. Can I Return Merchandise?

    You may return merchandise following our return policy:

    If for any reason you're not satisfied with the item you purchased via this web site you can return any non-engraved, unsized item in its original condition for a refund or exchange within 30 days of the date of purchase.

    Special orders and custom orders cannot be returned.

    To return an item to us follow our three step process:

    2. Place the item you would like to return, with all the original packaging in the box (including all appraisals and certificates if applicable) and address it to:

    Return Department, Gem Art Limited, 1 Jabutisnki Road, Ramat Gan 52520, Israel.

    3. On your receipt, if the price of the item you're returning is listed as less than $500, you can ship it via   any carrier. (BE SURE to ship your item fully insured.) For items that are more than $500, ship your package via carrier, insured for the total value of the contents, and reques_ta return receipt for confirmation that your shipment arrived at its intended destination.

    Once your return is received, it will be inspected. Any unauthorized, improperly packaged, or non insured packages will be returned to sender. Items that show signs of wear or have been re sized, engraved, altered, or damaged in any way cannot be accepted for return.

    It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to pay all import taxes and customs fees associated with their order.

    Gem Art Limited will not be responsible for loss or damage of return shipments.

    Yes, when shopping for less than 500$, shipping expenses are paid by the customer:

    *Regular Delivery-7-10 business days- 10$

    Yes, every shipment we send you will be insured by us and you do not need to pay for it.

    Once you are checking out from the site and wish to finish your purchase you will see that your address (the one you inserted in your account information) appears on your customer info. If you wish to choose an alternate address for shipping you need to click the "alternate shipping" box located in the customer info, under your address, this will give you the opportunity to inser_ta shipping address which will be used only for this particular shipment and purchase.

    Please note that if you wish to change your address permanently you need to change your customer information when logging in.

    When making a gold jewel, gold is always mixed with metals such as silver or nickel and copper. If the copper and the silver (or a different white metal) amounts put in the mixture are leveled with one another the natural yellow color of gold remains. If the mixture will have more copper than silver (or a different white metal) the gold will become red (red gold) and if there is more white metal than copper the gold will be white(white gold).

    You are welcome to choose any type of gold. By clicking on the type of gold that you desire in the page of the product, the price will automatically adapt to your choice and once you add it to your basket we will be informed of your gold choice.

    Yes you are able to choose any type of gemstone (which is available in the site) for any model of jewelry that you see in the site. What you have to do is email us a particular design and tell us which gemstone you would like to replace. The price of the jewel may change according to your selection.
